Bitcoin & Blockchain must reads
By now, I am habituated to read headlines such as “Bitcoin reaches latest high, Inches closer to X0,000”. X keeps changing every day! But most people are unaware of the fundamentals of what bitcoin is, how blockchain works and how it may change humanity.
While quenching my thirst for Bitcoin knowledge, I came across some gems. I want to share the gems with you so that you can learn more about about Bitcoin in minimal reading/listening or watching.
Two books by Mark Jeffery
Bitcoin Explained Simply: An Easy Guide To The Basics That Anyone Can Understand
These two are fairly small books – 46 and 57 pages only. Each book can be read in less than an hour. They must be read in the order though. Bitcoin Explained Simply should be read before. They are very inexpensive and are available in various formats such as Audible, Kindle etc. I think Mark does a good job in explaining Bitcoin and Blockchain concepts for non technical people. Both of the books are available in Kindle Unlimited program. If you have subscription for Kindle Unlimited, they are free!
This is a three episode audio documentary by the makers of Invest Like the Best podcast. In my opinion, the people interviewed in these episodes are one of the smartest people in Bitcoin world right now. It really does good job of explaining Bitcoin, blockchains and their potential. Although it does a good job, I recommend you to read Mark Jeffrey’s books before you listen to it. You will be able to get much more out of it if you have some background.
This is the most comprehensive history of the Bitcoin movement in my opinion. It’s only useful if you are interested in knowing who were the early players and how exactly Bitcoin became a movement. This book documents history of Bitcoin from 2008 to 2014. For a history buff like me, this book was very interesting. This book is also available on Kindle and Audible.
Banking with Bitcoin – A Documentary on Netflix
This is a video documentary. It doesn’t explain blockchain in detail. It simplifies it a lot. I wouldn’t watch this to understand blockchain technology. It’s more in line with Nathaniel Popper’s book. It documents the history of Bitcoin. If you want to see and meet many of the players mentioned in Popper’s book, this documentary is a must watch.
This is one of the best podcasts on Bitcoin, Blockchains and Cryptocurrencies in general. It’s bit advanced, you are expected to understand the fundamentals if you are listening to a current episode. This podcast is the best way to keep your Bitcoin knowledge current once you gain enough knowledge about the fundamental concepts.
